Our Story

We started The 1000 Mile Year out of a love of running and a desire to find (and share) motivation.

Claire has been a long time runner, a pastime that she learned from her father and one that has guided her through many phases of life. With the onslaught of the pandemic in 2020, Carter became interested in running as well - seeking any excuse to get outside amidst an ever changing and stressful world. We loved sharing this with each other… talking about our routes, learning from each other and ending runs at coffee shops or cafes before starting the day.

We began challenging each other to progressive running goals. First it was 75 miles in a month, then it was 100, and then finally it culminated in 120 miles in one month. We’d reached our limit. While we loved these challenges, it was often hard to track our accomplishments or find a rhythm each week to meet our goals.

In early 2022, after running a half marathon, Carter created a grid in order to begin tracking our next challenge….running a thousand miles in a year. We received such a positive response to the guide and felt encouraged to share them with others (you!)

With full lives and busy schedules, finding a rhythm for running can often feel daunting - or even impossible. With The 1000 Mile Year (or another one of our guides) we hope you find the motivation you’ve been seeking and have some fun along the way.
