Our Running Essentials
While there are plenty of products marketed towards runners, we’re minimalists. We don’t think you need a lot of products to get out there - whether you want to run two miles or ten.
GOOD RUNNING SHOES
While everyone has their favorite, I (Claire) love my Hokas. This year, I’ve been running in the Speedgoat 4 - for runs on both pavement and trails. This style (and Hokas in general) are definitely more bulky than your average running shoe, but the Speedgoat 4 has great traction. I feel really sure footed and supported throughout my run. I also find that all trail running shoes are available in better colorways (for both men and women).
A RUNNING BELT
We love to be hands-free during a run - but that doesn’t mean we want to go without our devices. I’ve found that a tight fitting elastic belt is my preferred method for taking my phone and snacks on the go. There are plenty of options on Amazon. I went with this one.
RUNNING SNACKS
When it comes to running, there are so many supplements to choose from. I prefer to keep some almonds in my pouch on long runs - as feeling hungry is what can often cut my runs short. You can also take gels and gummies on the go, but almonds are a pure, natural form of fuel. You won’t need to check the packaging or Google the ingredients.
NON-ESSENTIAL ESSENTIALS
For the past year, I’ve been loving starting my runs with Celsius. I only run in the early mornings and starting with a little extra energy has been helpful and invigorating. As I can’t handle too much caffeine, I usually drink ⅓ of the can per run.
